Open Doors Therapy is an autism therapy clinic located in Palo, Alto, CA. Our team offers therapy services online to anyone located within the state of California, so you can access our services anywhere from Sacramento to San Diego. Our therapists are experts in neurodiversity and serve teens and adults on the autism spectrum. We help neurodiverse individuals who identify as having Aspergers, undiagnosed autism traits, etc. and their families.
Please note: currently, we are providing all our autism counseling services online.
Individual Autism Therapy:
As autism therapists, we help neurodiverse clients overcome a variety of mental health concerns in individual autism therapy. Our therapists see neurodiverse individuals ages 15 through 30.
We frequently help neurodiverse individuals cope with concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
Counseling for Autism and Trauma
We understand that many people living with neurodiversity have experienced trauma. We have certified trauma-informed therapists on our staff who can help you cope with the fall out of these negative events and any symptoms of PTSD you may be experiencing.
Counseling for Autism and Anxiety
Many, if not most neurodiverse individuals have a hard time managing stress and anxiety. Especially, when you’re overstimulated and dealing with sensory sensitivities. This can make life challenging. The counseling team at Open Doors Therapy is skilled in helping you learn and practice coping techniques and strategies to manage anxiety and overwhelm.
Counseling for Autism and Depression
Living with neurodiversity can feel isolating and difficult. This may cause feelings of intense sadness and depression. Our autism therapists work with neurodiverse clients every day and understand the feelings you’re experiencing. We can support you by teaching you techniques to increase your social network, tricks to cope with overwhelm, and provide you with tools to self-advocate for your needs.
Therapy and Coaching for Autism Parents:
Autism parents face unique challenges when parenting their neurodiverse child, teen, or young adult. In autism parent counseling, our therapists help parents who are struggling with helping their child be independent and advocate for themselves, dealing with meltdowns or sensory overload, navigating discipline, and helping their child cope with transitions.
Autism Family Therapy:
Autism families frequently experience conflict due to misunderstandings between the neurodiverse and neurotypical family members. In autism family therapy our therapy team helps families learn how to communicate more effectively so they can deepen their connection. This helps reduce conflict and improve relationships between family members.
Individual Online Autism Therapy:
Individual online autism therapy makes getting autism counseling services easier and convenient. Our therapists are skilled in offering therapy over a secure virtual platform. We can see clients who are physically located in the state of California. Online autism therapy allows us to help individuals living with neurodiversity work on the issues that matter most to them from the comfort of their homes.
Online Autism Group Therapy:
Our neurodiverse-affirming groups focus on three core areas: increasing social confidence, improving self-advocacy and self-help skills, and distress tolerance. We are currently running the following groups online:
- Autistic Teens and Caregivers Group
