Welcome back to our blog series: Autism Support During the Pandemic. In my last blog, I wrote about how sheltering in place can actually reduce stress for neurodiverse teens and adults, due to less daily “social overload” or “sensory overload”. However, they may experience stress related to adjusting to online schooling or work, living in a time of uncertainty, and facing a global pandemic.
The month of April is Autism Awareness Month. And, the state of California has been told to shelter in place throughout April during the COVID-19 crisis. So, I have decided to dedicate my April Blog Series to helping people with autism and their loved ones not only survive but thrive while they are home.
