Group therapy can be a great resource for anyone. But, it’s especially helpful for those who may not feel supported in their daily lives.
As a neurodiverse person, you may not have many spaces that allow you to explore and express yourself. Or, you may not feel like those around you actually understand your experiences. You may often mask your neurodiverse traits. Because of it, you feel like you aren’t able to live in an authentic way. It may have even led you to become out of sync with your emotions and needs.
That is why we offer group therapy that is tailored to neurodiverse adults and focused on your unique experiences.
Our groups are a space for you to learn more about your neurodiverse identity. You’ll gain support and understanding from other neurodiverse adults. And you’ll learn how to become more attuned with your emotions. By doing so, you can feel more comfortable and confident in your daily life.
You may come to the group thinking that the world wasn’t built for you. But you’ll leave with the understanding that you are exactly who you’re supposed to be.
In Group Therapy for Neurodiverse Adults, You Will Gain Support and Understanding
Our groups are completely reserved for adults on the spectrum. This means that you’ll have a space with others who actually understand your experiences. If you’re in our group for LGBTQ+ adults, you may gain validation from people who relate to the challenges you face. Or, you may be participating in our group for college students. If so you can share your experiences with others who are going through similar stress or worries.
In a group, you’ll also have a chance to gain different perspectives on the challenges you may be facing. You’ll be able to see what other members have found helpful in their lives, and what possibilities are out there.
You’ll be able to explore yourself and gain self-acceptance in group therapy.

In Group Therapy, You’ll Learn to Trust Yourself and Advocate for Your Needs
You’ll also learn practical social and interpersonal skills.
Our Groups Are Held Online So You Can Take Part From the Comfort of Your Own Home
Our groups are always small (about 4-8 people).
And, since you can take part in group therapy from the comfort of your home, you have access to the things you need to feel calm and relaxed. For example, you can have your favorite drinks or snacks with you. Your pet can sit with you or you can have a fidget toy readily available. This will also help you to build self-care into your daily routine by practicing doing things that make you feel comfortable and safer. You can also take comfort in the fact online therapy has been found to be as effective as its in-person equivalent.
Group therapy can help you feel seen, understood, and empowered. It’s a space for neurodiverse adults to gain skills and insight to live more authentic lives. If you’re ready to take the first step, please reach out to us at Open Doors Therapy.
