What is Online Group Therapy or Telemental Health Like?
You might be wondering what telehealth or online group therapy is like. If you have ever joined a Zoom meeting? That’s almost exactly what it is like. In fact, the HIPAA-compliant app we use is powered by Zoom. It takes only seconds to download the app onto your computer, tablet, or phone. You get mailed a link to the meeting room. Them, you simply click on the link and it opens the meeting in your app.
You’ll still see all the group members on your video screen. Even though it is over video, group members still bond closely and build trust and rapport, like they do in the in-person groups. We still create a strong sense of safety. Therefore, people are comfortable opening up about personal matters and sharing with the group. The empathy and validation you feel from your group members will warm your heart and motivate you to keep going.
